I'm Kelsey, boudoir photographer at Rosewood Boudoir. Creating tasteful + romantic photographs that help you see your natural beauty.

If you’re wondering if boudoir photography is awkward, you’re not alone. Maybe you’re imagining your session and thinking that being in front of a camera in lingerie might feel a little weird.
I get it. It’s not something you do every day after all. But here’s the thing: you may not do this regularly, but I do.
Boudoir photography certainly can be awkward without sufficient guidance. But that’s not how I do things. I will be there to answer every question you have and guide you through the whole experience.
Boudoir photography doesn’t have to feel awkward. But the truth is, your experience might at times, just not for the reason you’re probably imagining.
There’s no weird silence or cringey moments. But it is going to be different than any other photoshoot you may have done in the past. You may feel vulnerable or slightly uncomfortable when you come out in your first outfit. Not because it’s awkward. Because it’s new.
But this unfamiliar feeling will fade quickly as we move into your session.

Even if you’ve been photographed before, you’re still likely to feel a bit unsure initially. But that’s where I come in. It’s my job to walk you through exactly what to do. I’ll show you how to pose, what to do with your hands, and coach your expressions.
You don’t have to walk in feeling confident or comfortable. I’ll help you ease into the session and you’ll feel more and more comfortable as we go along.
You might feel unsure or nervous initially. That’s normal if this is a little outside your comfort zone. I will walk you through it all. I won’t make it awkward. We’ll chat, we’ll laugh, and we’ll create photos that make you feel genuinely beautiful and confident.
Most of the women I photograph have never done a boudoir session before. For most of them, seeing themselves in such a vulnerable, beautiful, and sensual way is a big mental shift. It can feel weird at first to see yourself in a new way, but you’ll be so glad you did.

Every step of your boudoir experience is intentionally designed to help you feel comfortable and beautiful. We start with a natural glam look from one of my carefully vetted hair and makeup artists.
Then we go through the outfits you brought and finalize your selections. You can bring a few favorite pieces or your whole wardrobe.
Then I’ll walk you through every step of every pose. From which legs to bend, to what to do with your hands, to how to soften your expressions, you will never be left to guess what to do. I’ll make tweaks as needed and show you a few photos as we go so you can see how amazing you look in real time without any editing.

Sessions are relaxed. We’ll chat as we go. I’ll demonstrate poses for you and give you direction the whole time. You don’t have to feel pressure to “be sexy”. You’re going to look stunning and natural in your photographs. Just come ready to follow my lead and have a good time. The more fun you’re having, the better your photos will look.
“I was very nervous before meeting Kelsey, but she made it so much fun and I felt so comfortable the whole time. Never thought I’d gain self-confidence this way, but I did thanks to her! Kelsey was so easy to work with and is the ultimate hype girl! No way could I have done this without her.” – Ms. I

While you may arrive nervous, within just a few minutes of shooting those nerves will dissipate. By the end of our session, you’ll be surprised to find that it wasn’t awkward. It was actually just fun and uplifting.
You’ll feel more confident than you did when you walked in, but most of all, you’ll start to see yourself differently. You’ll have a renewed appreciation for yourself for being bold and taking this chance to see yourself as art. And with any luck, you’ll love what you see.
The short answer? No. It’s true that you might have moments of feeling nervous or unsure. But being photographed in nothing but your underwear (or nothing at all) isn’t nearly as awkward as you think.
If you’re ready to experience boudoir for yourself, I’d love to talk to you. Reach out here to start your experience.
