I'm Kelsey, boudoir photographer at Rosewood Boudoir. Creating tasteful + romantic photographs that help you see your natural beauty.
There is a lot of planning that goes on leading up to a boudoir session. Here are some of my favorite tips to prepare for your boudoir session!
Figure out what you want to wear. I have a plethora of blog posts devoted to this topic to help you! The cliff notes are to choose things that are fitted rather than flowy and look for bottoms that are either a cheeky cut or a thong.
You could also consider bringing a sweater or shirt with a wide neck or your fella’s oversized button down.
While I don’t recommend it, decide if you’re going to get a spray tan or real tan. Definitely don’t do this the day before your session.
Photoshop is not an efficient hair removal tool. Be sure to wax or shave whatever you don’t want to see in your photos.
Consider getting a mani-pedi in a classic or neutral color. Your nails will definitely show up in the photos so make a conscious decision how you’d like them to look.
Get a facial or a massage!
I don’t care if you do or don’t normally drink water. Leading up to your boudoir session, set yourself a goal and start chugging! Drinking lots of water will help clear your skin and give it that healthy glow we all want.
Trust me, you should stretch. I’ve made gym rats sore during their boudoir sessions.
The best thing you can do leading up to your session is to stretch. Stretch your legs, your back, your toes, your arms, your lips, literally everything!
Try to stretch every day of the week leading up to your session!
The day before your session, try everything on one more time to be sure you like your outfits. Don’t forget to cut off those pesky tags so they don’t pop out in your photos!
Get yourself feeling flirty and romantic! Enjoy some time with him and think about how much he’s going to love your photos!
My personal recommendation is a sweet smelling bubble bath with a good book followed by turning in early. Take some time to relax and unwind the night before your session – in whatever form this takes for you!
I recommend packing a bag the night before, but be sure you aren’t forgetting anything! I won’t judge you if you come in with a big bag. Better over prepared than under!
I’m so serious about this. Stretch it out, friend.
Don’t worry about doing hair or makeup before you come. My hair and makeup artist will be ready to pamper you with all that when you get here! Just make sure you’re bringing her a nice bare and clean canvas.
You know those bagging clothes you have for when you want to get real comfy? Those are the ones to wear to your session. Don’t wear anything tight or restrictive. We don’t want imprints from your leggings left on your skin once you change into your outfits.
Once you arrive, you won’t have to think about a thing. Just relax and enjoy the hair and makeup process. After that, we’ll head upstairs to the studio area and start your session. I’ll walk you through posing and everything after that!
