I'm Kelsey, boudoir photographer at Rosewood Boudoir. Creating tasteful + romantic photographs that help you see your natural beauty.
If you’ve been thinking about booking a boudoir session (or you already have!), you may be wondering how you’re going to pose for your boudoir session.
It’s your boudoir photographer’s job to walk you through each pose and make sure you look good before they take photos. Trust me, we’re not expecting you to come in with boudoir model experience!
Boudoir posing in general is going to be quite different from other styles of portrait photography.
Because you’re generally wearing less clothing in a boudoir session, flattering lighting and posing becomes even more important than usual. Most of the poses are going to be designed to show off your assets and minimize any flaws you feel you have.
Boudoir posing is also going to vary from photographer to photographer depending on their style. Some photographers may have racier poses while others may be more focused on poses that show off your natural curves in a more tasteful way.
Before you book your boudoir session, it’s so important to choose a photographer who has a style you love!
If you’re still feeling nervous, I’ve got a few general tips for you below!
This is my favorite tip for amazing boudoir photos. If you book a session with me, you’ll hear me say it over and over! Pointing your toes elongates your legs and makes them look slim and toned while also making your images look more polished and feminine!
We want to avoid stiff fingers or curled fists. Both of these hand positions indicate discomfort and can even exude masculinity.
We want to keep our hands and fingers soft, light, and relaxed. This will help you look natural and comfortable and feminine in front of the camera!
Arched backs are beautiful and feminine. Arching your back will help lengthen and slim your torso as well which is unbelievably flattering.
The thing to keep in mind is you don’t want to lean back at the chest to arch your back. Instead, you want to shift your hips back to create an arch.
This will look more natural, but also more flattering as it’ll also make your booty look bigger.
During some poses, I’ll let you know you can just hang out and hold that pose while I move around and get some different angles. But for other poses, I’ll give you a movement to do while I take photos. I love giving you poses that incorporate movement because it helps you feel more comfortable and natural. Let me tell you, this translates beautifully into your photos!
I can coach you into a sultry, sexy look during your session. But if I’m being honest, many of my favorite photos involve a big smile or laughing!
Chances are, your fella adores your smile and already thinks your laugh is sexy. Don’t be afraid to show that side of you in your boudoir photos too! It doesn’t have to always be a sensual and sexy expression!
