I'm Kelsey, boudoir photographer at Rosewood Boudoir. Creating tasteful + romantic photographs that help you see your natural beauty.
Most of the women I photograph are some combination of nervous and excited before their boudoir sessions. This is a perfectly normal feeling.
You’ve never posed in your underwear before, after all!
Here are some of my best recommendations for how to calm your nerves before your boudoir session.
If you haven’t yet, completing your boudoir questionnaire is a great way to think through your session and figure out what you want and communicate that to me. This can help reduce your nerves.
Read through the emails I’ve sent you and check that you are fully prepared. Skim my blog and see what other tips and tricks are there to help you.
The more prepared you are for your boudoir session, the less nervous you need to be about it.
If you have any questions at all, feel free to email them to me at kelsey@rosewoodboudoir.com. I’m more than happy to answer them and help you feel fully prepared for your boudoir session! Always remember, there are no silly questions!
Skim Pinterest and see what you like. Make an inspiration board that we can go over at your session. Start picturing yourself in those poses. Visualize your session.
If you want to add any of my photos to your Pinterest Board, you can see my Pinterest page here!
Get those nervous thoughts down on paper and out of your head! Journaling is a great way to work through your nerves and spend some time reflecting on what you already love about your body.
There’s a lot to be said for posture. If you notice your body language is you curled in on yourself and you’re feeling intimated, make a conscious effort to stand up straight and tall with your shoulders back and your hands on your hips (superman style!).
Look in a mirror and tell yourself that you’re beautiful several times. Then, list at least 10 things you love about yourself. Yes, you read that right: 10+ things!
This will help shift your mindset from fear to excitement and positivity.
This is a fun way to relax and feel super polished and put together. I always recommend a neutral nail like a solid soft pink or a classic French manicure!
If you’re feeling stressed, book a massage to literally rub that stress right off you!
Escape to the world of fiction! If you need to just relax and take your mind off your upcoming session, sit down and read a book you enjoy.
What’s your favorite way to relax? Do you like bubble baths? Netflix? Long walks? Treat yourself to some personal self-care relaxation time.
Get your man to take you on a date. Think about how excited he’ll be to see your photos and get yourself feeling pretty and romantic.
Do you have that one friend who is always on your side no matter what? Give her a call, send her a text, grab coffee or get a meal together. Tell her how you’re feeling and let her give you some encouragement!
