I'm Kelsey, boudoir photographer at Rosewood Boudoir. Creating tasteful + romantic photographs that help you see your natural beauty.
When I did my first boudoir session back before my wedding, I would definitely classify myself as an athletic body type. I was fresh out of college where I ran and lifted weights regularly. Before that I was a basketball player in high school and the muscles I developed during that time were unreal and apparently pretty long lasting.
Since that first session, I don’t frequent the gym as much. I tend to prefer leisurely evening walks around my neighborhood to the grueling morning runs that I favored during my college days.
Wherever you are on your fitness journey, boudoir is a great way to celebrate your body and what it can do.
If you’re like me, you may find yourself questioning whether you’ll look feminine enough with your toned muscles. I know I felt like I had “man arms” and was very worried about this. But I needn’t have been.
I promise, you will absolutely look beautiful and feminine if you have an athletic body type. I will pose you in ways that will highlight the curves you have and help you convey feminine energy.
That being said, keep in mind that strong is incredibly beautiful!
If you are on the athletic side, you may be wondering what to wear to enhance your body type. Friend, I’ve got you covered. Keep reading for some more specific guidance on what to wear!
In my humble opinion, lace is one of the prettiest, most feminine things you can wear for your boudoir session. Whether you choose to go for a bodysuit, a bralette, or just a matching bra and panty set, you literally cannot go wrong with lace.
There are no hard and fast rules to boudoir. Wear what makes you feel good! If you want to play into your athletic build, you could opt for a sports bra and jeans. Leggings, booty shorts, or even cute sporty underwear is also a great option for your athletic boudoir session.
Implied nude photography is always an option and it’s an incredible way to showcase the body. You can learn more about implied nude photography here!
If you work out a lot, you’re probably pretty strong. You likely have some stunning muscle definition as well. Do you want to show that off? Let me know and I’ll pull out some of my boudoir poses specifically designed to showcase muscles on athletic bodies!
Whatever you want out of your boudoir session, we will make it happen! Regardless of where you are in your fitness journey, boudoir photography is for YOU!
