THE BEST PLACES TO SHOP FOR LINGERIE FOR YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION

If you’re like most women I photograph, you don’t actually have much lingerie laying around in your closet. Maybe you want to wear lingerie for your boudoir session, but you’re not really sure of the best places to shop.

There are definitely a lot of options out there, but I’ve compiled a list of my personal favorite lingerie stores and places to shop for your boudoir session.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR

Before we jump into my personal favorite recommendations, here are a few things to keep in mind while you’re shopping!

BODYSUITS/TEDDYS FLATTER EVERY BODY TYPE

I love bodysuits and teddys. There is so much variety to choose from. They photograph beautifully and flatter every body type.

CHEEKY CUT IS THE BEST CUT

There is something about a cheeky cut bottom that photographs unbelievably well. If you’re feeling really daring, you could even do a thong.

However, I recommend avoiding g-strings. They just don’t look that great in photos.

HIDE WHAT YOU DON’T WANT TO SHOW

This one seems obvious, but it’s very real. While I can do a lot with posing to flatter your figure and show off the things you want while de-emphasizing the things you don’t, I’m not actually a magician.

If you’re nervous about showing your stomach, choose and outfit that covers it such as a bodysuit or high waisted panties. Avoid babydoll nightgown lingerie pieces since they have an unfortunate tendency to make you look larger than you are in photographs.

If you’re nervous about showing your arms, choose a long sleeved option such as a sweater, shirt, or long sleeved bodysuit/teddy.

BUDGET FRIENDLY OPTIONS WITH VARIETY

AMAZON

Amazon has everything right? In my experience, they pretty much do. They even have lingerie! This is an excellent place to find something budget friendly (in any color you can imagine) that will likely still photograph beautifully. Just be sure to check reviews first.

ADORE ME

While I’ve never ordered from Adore Me, they have an excellent variety of pieces and colors. The pricing always seems very reasonable. They also offer a lingerie box that is selected for you based on a style quiz which is a neat option if you want to try some different things but you’re still not sure where to start.

UNIQUE/SPECIALTY PLACES

PINSY

Pinsy is predominately a shapewear brand. The thing is, they’ve made the shapewear so darn lovely it looks and feels like lingerie.

They offer a variety of bodysuits that are a beautiful combination of practical shapeware and gorgeous lace. The styles are super flattering for all shapes and sizes. The color options are predominately neutrals: black, white, pink, and nude. If you’re nervous about wearing lingerie for photos, this can be a great way to ease into it!

POPILUSH

Popilush is a lot like Pinsy. They also have lovely shapeware/lingerie crossover pieces. However, there’s a bit more variety than Pinsy. If you’re feeling insecure about showing your stomach, definitely check this place out!

INTIMISSIMI

If you like delicate little black things and don’t need a lot of support in the chest, this is a beautiful option for you. It’s an Italian lingerie brand that cares about sustainability while making beautiful delicate lace and mesh pieces that will photography beautifully.

THE BRADSHAW COLLECTION

This is a lingerie brand that handmakes limited edition bodysuits. They’re always unique and classy, but my favorite part is that they’re designed by a boudoir photographer and her seamstress mother.
