I'm Kelsey, boudoir photographer at Rosewood Boudoir. Creating tasteful + romantic photographs that help you see your natural beauty.
I do not have any policies against bringing ONE supportive friend with you to your boudoir session. However, I honestly don’t recommend it.
I brought my sister to my boudoir session before my wedding for moral support. While she was and is great, hindsight is 20/20. I wish I hadn’t brought a friend (even one as close as a sister), and now I recommend the ladies I photograph not bring a friend for a few reasons.
Instead of solely focusing on making you look beautiful and getting as many gorgeous images as we can during your session time, there’s another person there to think about.
Having a friend there can often be a distraction to you and your photographer.
It is better for you to focus on yourself and getting comfortable with your photographer without worrying about what another person was thinking or doing or feeling during the session.
If you’re going shopping before your session, getting your bestie’s opinion and advice on your outfits can be very fun. If she loves you and wants the best for you, she could be invaluable in choosing outfits that suit you and flatter you.
I have a lot of other blog posts that will walk you through what to wear and what to look for. You two could peruse the blog together and talk about what will look good on YOU.
Hanging out with a friend before your session can be a good way to calm your nerves and let her reassure you that you’ll look beautiful in your photos!
On your drive to your session, give your bestie a call if you’re feeling nervous. Let her talk you down from the nerves and get you feeling hyped up and ready to go!
If you want to bring your friend to the reveal party with you a few days after your session, that can be a great time to have a friend there to encourage you and celebrate with you while we’re admiring your finished photos!
Boudoir is very intimate and it should be a positive experience. If you bring a friend to the reveal party, she should be cheering you on and telling you how gorgeous you look (and reminding you how much your man is going to LOVE these photos of you)!
If there’s even a chance you don’t think she’ll show the proper enthusiasm and encouragement – don’t bring her to your session or your reveal party.
I want you to have the best boudoir experience possible!
In general, you’ll get the best results from your boudoir session when it’s just you and your photographer without having to worry about an extra person there.
I just want you to be more informed than I was so you can make the right decision for you!
If you have considered all of this and are still choosing to bring a friend, please give me a heads up so I can have a chair set up and ready for her!
