Accessories are a girls best friend, right? Or is it diamonds. Or dogs…. I digress.
Accessories are such a fun way to add some personality into your boudoir session! Here are some accessory ideas along with some things you should know about how to get the most out of your accessories!
Bring jewelry that you love. However, I recommend keeping it minimal. Choose pieces that fit your aesthetic and don’t overpower you! Be aware we may want to remove any necklaces you wear for some poses as they don’t always lay right when you are laying down. If you’re engaged or married, don’t forget that ring!
Don’t bring costume jewelry. It can look over the top or out of place during a boudoir session while still managing to steal the attention from you!
Look for sheer or lace robes for boudoir photos. Full length or short robes will both photograph great!
In general, I don’t recommend going with a bulky robe. This will tend to make you look a little larger than you actual are which is not fair at all.
If you’re going to bring heels, go all out! Break out the stilettos. Bring something with the tallest heel for the best results! Don’t worry if you can’t walk in them. You won’t have to!
Don’t bring little kitten heels or short heels. They just don’t have the same impact in your photos. If you never wear heels and they don’t suit your personality, don’t force it! Just come barefoot and you’ll be fine!
If you’re going for a comfy look, don’t be afraid to pair your sweater and undies with some cute thigh high or even crew socks for a cute and flirty look.
If you’re going for a sexy look, consider bringing stockings and a garter belt for a full classic lingerie look. If you go this route – make sure those stockings are sky high. Ideally they’ll hit just below your butt.
Don’t let them cut you off at weird places. If you’re going for tall stockings, don’t go with ones that cut you off mid thigh. Visually this can actually shorten your legs which can be a bummer.
A coffee mug is a great way to add a casual vibe to your boudoir session. I always have a simple white mug on hand to use as a prop. However, if you want something more personal, bring your favorite mug!
Don’t bring a coffee cup that clashes with your outfit or takes the attention away from you!
Bring a hat that suits you and your personality! Ms. J enjoys fantasy books and renaissance fairs. She brought in a massive witches hat for her session and it was so much fun to play with!
Bring a hat just to bring a hat. There are plenty of other options to accessorize your session.
Are you an avid reader? Bring in your favorite book! Make sure it has a pretty cover and it can be a really fun option to incorporate some personality into your session.
Make sure the book isn’t too big or too small. It’s size shouldn’t look comical in proportion to your body.
Try bringing a bouquet of flowers to your session! It’s a great way to add in some color and uniqueness to your session. You can pair the flowers with your favorite pair of jeans and strategically cover your chest for a sexy and flirty look.
If you’re going to bring flowers, bring a full bouquet! It’s better to have too many than not enough.
Don’t let your accessories steal the show! This session is about you and any accessories you bring should compliment you rather than compete with you.
